If anyone goes through the audio and has any questions to ask, you can either put them up here, PM them to me, or email them to:

i heard a rumour here in Canada that Hamza Yusuf has an explanation of al-Aajurumiyyah... and that DIPers were given photocopies of it... does anyone know if it is available? or does anyone have it???

DIPers?
I know he [used to?] holds courses on it and hand out explanations, but they are very brief and mostly just a translation of the actual text. The explanatory notes are minimal, the students are meant to take their own.
This is from at least 3 years ago. I don't know if it has changed or not.

Do you know where I can get the sharh which Imam Suhayb Webb is following ? I've got ibn uthaymeens sharh but its different and I can't really follow the lesson hundred percent.

Wa alaikum as salaam,
I believe this is the sharh he is using - al-Tuhfah al-Saniyyah (http://saaid.net/book/open.php?cat=90&book=1565)

You're welcome.
i heard a rumour here in Canada that Hamza Yusuf has an explanation of al-Aajurumiyyah... and that DIPers were given photocopies of it... does anyone know if it is available? or does anyone have it???He translated the Ajroomiyyah into English, that's all I know. He put the Arabic as it is in the margin, with the translation on the rest of the page.I haven't heard of an explanation (you meant sharh right?).
I personally feel that you have to be familiar with English grammer in order to understand the translations of any Arabic grammer. If possible, just learn the Arabic as it is... much better Inshaa'Allaah
Wa jazaakillahu khairn for the audio's

Arab Linguistics: An introductory classical text with translation and notes (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/9027245061/qid=1127478900/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/103-9229845-9219041?v=glance&s=books&n=507846)
edited by M.G. Carter
This book is a translation of al-Sirbini's sharh of the Ajrumiyyah called Nur al-Sajiyyah fee hall alfaadh al-Ajrmumiyyah ('The Ajrumiyyah's exposition by the Light of Intuition'), along with some of Carter's own explanatory notes.
From the Introduction:
If the Ajrumiyyah is the quintessence of Arabic grammar, then as-Sirbini's commentary on it is surely the essence: it is modest yet comprehensive, not over-long, but detailed enough for serious study, and as orthodox and well-meaning as as-Sirbini himself. His Nur al-Sajiyya fi hall alfaz al-Ajrumiyyah is the distillation of some nine centuries of linguistic speculation; what is left is both wholly unoriginal and entirely typical of a discipline which had already reached its peak more than two hundred years before as-Sirbini's death in 1570. It is, therefore, an ideal introduction to the cast technical literature devoted to the preservation and propagation of one of the world's few divine languages, the Classical Arabic in which the Qur'an was revealed and through which the Islamic faith finds expression.
It is not a 'teach-yourself-Arabic' book though, and for a beginner would certainly require a teacher, more particularly one familiar with english grammar terms. But I like it.

Asalaam alaikum,
the problem though is before one can get this, one has to have some basic understanding of the arabic language, eh?

Wa alaikum as salaam,
To an extent, yes. If you have a teacher, no. I would say an understanding of the english language is more necessary.

Here is a translated copy of the initial chapters of the Ajrumiyyah, along with a translation of the relevant most useful portions of explanation from the commentary al-Tuhfah al-Saniyyah.

I do! But I barely know enough Arabic to even use it. I got it with the hopes of learning how to understand it sooner rather than later inshaAllah.

I guess nobody really knows about them?? Anyway, the real media links in the start of this thread are down, but you can get the original mp3s (also bad quality, unfortunately) here: http://www.sakena.net/webb/Al-Ajrruymiyah/
You can also get the wmas *(but it's 4 part and seems to be shorter overall, but perhaps slightly better quality, subjectively) at this great blog post, which also has more info in general about some ajrumiyyah resources: http://www.mereislam.info/2006/01/new-classical-arabic-and-al-ajrumiyyah.html

does anyone have a full english translation with the grammatical points explained (in english as well) as a pdf or word doc?
Also, i have the audio to and the actual book of ibn Uthaiymeen's sharh, but my arabic isnt good enough to actually understand what he is saying. Is there any translation of his sharh?

Partial translation of a different (but most famous, AFAIK) sharh can be found at http://www.mereislam.info/2006/01/new-classical-arabic-and-al-ajrumiyyah.html . The author translated what he felt was the most important parts and the sharh also.
