as-Salaamu 3alaykum,
This is my sincere advice to you....
When you are at a stop and need to merge onto a road, a highway, a rotary.. or maybe just take a right turn... DO NOT TAKE YOUR EYES OFF OF THE CAR IN FRONT OF YOU UNTIL IT IS 50 FEET IN FRONT OF YOU!
Don't wait until you see the car moving and then think "hey, i'll follow them so let me look left to see if there are any cars coming." Why? Because the person may not be going.. they may have just been moving up a little.. they may have just changed their minds.. either way, why in the name of Allaah, would you look left and drive forward? does that make sense? LOOK IN THE DIRECTION YOU ARE DRIVING.
So don't try to be slick.. don't try to save a few seconds... stare intently at the car in front of you. wait until the car is well on its way before you decide to look left.
Why? because i was in a car with my brother when we got rear ended because a guy was looking left and driving forward, because i rear ended someone while looking left and driving forward, and today i got rear ended again because the lady behind me was looking left and driving forward. DO NOT LOOK LEFT AND DRIVE FORWARD! Kapeesh?
